BOOZE CRUISE
The brand designs on this page were all created for Academy of Art University in San Francisco as teaching aids for their AI in Branding course. Distilled alcoholic beverages, wines and beers are the focus of the class in part because they afford the greatest opportunity to explore expressive and graphics on primary and secondary container shapes that themselves may be highly expressive in shape and form. Students are required to begin exploration with pencil sketches (even if they are virtual pencils) in order to encourage students thing conceptually before moving on to executions in AI programs.

Deep Distilled Saltwater Mineral Gin
The Brief: convey the essence of its unique distillation process from deep mineral saltwater basins, which imbues the gin with a pure, clean, and crisp flavor. The brand's imagery is deeply rooted in the sea, aiming to evoke the origins of DEEP Gin through visuals that encapsulate the ocean's depth and serenity. Packaging and branding will draw on marine elements—think hues of deep blue, aquamarine, and the shimmering silver of sea spray—to create a connection with the gin's distinctive taste and origin. The design will be minimalist yet captivating, reflecting the simplicity and clarity of the water from which DEEP Gin is crafted, while also hinting at the complexity beneath the surface. This approach aims to attract consumers with a taste for innovation and purity, positioning DEEP Gin as a premium offering in the spirits market that promises a unique drinking experience reminiscent of the ocean's vast, unexplored depths.
Le Feu Absinthe
The Brief: Le Feu marries modern packaging with a nod to absinthe's rich history, embodying "The Fire" through fiery imagery and deep green tones reminiscent of "The Green Fairy." The brand should have a retro/modern aesthetic to evoke absinthe's mystique and allure. Typography and motifs hint at its bohemian roots, creating a visual bridge that appeals to both connoisseurs and new explorers of this storied spirit. This dual approach aims to capture the essence of absinthe's legendary heritage in a contemporary, visually striking product.
Sotoa Mezcal de Oaxaca
The Brief: Sotoa Mezcal focuses on a modern, cool aesthetic that sets it apart from traditional mezcals, drawing inspiration from the Sotoa orchid of eastern Mexico. The packaging will feature minimalist design, contemporary typography, and a color palette of purples, greens, and whites, reflecting the orchid's beauty. Aimed at a trend-conscious demographic, the design aims to make Sotoa a standout brand in the mezcal market, blending tradition with a fresh, modern appeal.
South by West (SXW) Beer
The Brief: SXW (South by West) IPA's design brief aims to fuse its Northern New Mexico heritage with a modern aesthetic for a youthful audience. Utilizing earth tones inspired by Taos's landscape, the packaging will feature a contemporary design with bold typography and minimalist geometric patterns reflecting Southwestern art. This sleek approach targets young beer lovers, positioning SXW as a craft beer that honors its roots while appealing to modern tastes.
Volkers + Valmet (V+V) Vodka
The Brief: V+V, a premium Swiss vodka distilled from snow sourced high on the storied Matterhorn, The brand identity will blend contemporary aesthetics with nods to Swiss heritage, targeting discerning customers who appreciate innovation intertwined with tradition. The packaging will be sustainable, reflecting V+V's commitment to luxury and Swiss excellence in a sleek, modern format.
Astrologikal Vodka
The Brief: Astrologika Vodka's targets a blend of sophistication and mystery, leveraging cosmic and astrological imagery. The packaging will feature celestial motifs—star maps, zodiac symbols, and space-inspired colors like deep blues, blacks, and metallics—to evoke the elegance of the cosmos. The design aims to resonate with consumers drawn to the mystique of astrology and the universe, offering a premium experience that connects the spirit of exploration with the art of vodka.
